About Polyphonic Studios

Experts in the Technological Arts

Polyphonic Studios specializes in the creation of multi-media experiences. Creating any form of artwork can be a complicated process and computerized multi-media experiences are no exception. This web site seeks to document some of this work as it is going on at the studios.

Polyphonic Studios is a collection of multi-media studios. Some of the studios are traditional bricks and morter physical studios and some are virtual studios existing on various computers. The physical studios are located in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania on the east coast of the United States. The virtual studios exist in purely electronic form, for instance this web site.

The Physical

In Kennett Square, Polyphonic Studios is home to a comfortable room in a large Victorian Mansion built in 1870. This room is currently under construction. It features a large digital desk with a 32 channel digital mixer based on Soundscapes Mixtreme digital mixer cards. The small room also features a Yamaha CS80 and a Estey pump organ.

The main studio in Kennett Square is housed in a large building with a large open performance area and a traditional control room. This studio features a Sequential Circuits Prophet T8 and an Ensoniq ASR-88 as well as a beautiful Sammick baby grand piano. Mixing is accomplished using a Yamaha 01V. Recording is handled by computers and an original black face Alesis ADAT.

The Virtual

The main virtual studio has been under construction for at least three years and currently exists on an IBM T23 Thinkpad laptop (soon to be upgraded to an IBM T40). The software facilities feature Quaderno, FL Studio, and nTracks. This studio is designed to be a compositional powerhouse that will direct most of the undertaking in all the other studios.
